People always expect me to get sick because of the following reasons:
- I have an autoimmune disease.
- I am allergic to many foods and medications.
- I am mom and take care of everyone even when they are sick.
For the last 13 years, I’ve learned to manage my body and immune system. Read on to learn how I protect myself from not getting illnesses floating around my home.
- No kissing. I don’t kiss or place my face close to anyone that is sick. If needed, I wear a mask so if they sneeze, the droplets don’t land on or in my body. I console the sick individual by patting them on the back or even massaging them to make them calm and feel better.
- Eat healthy foods. I cook 99% of my meals at home. I use only fresh or frozen vegetables and consume only whole grains and foods; nothing is ultra-processed.
- Drink healthy. I don’t consume alcohol. I make smoothies using frozen fruit. I make warm herbal teas with anti-inflammatory ingredients. I grind and purée fresh juices too. I drink warm bone broth in a mug to help re-create natural collagen and boost my immune system.
- Stay close to nature. All of my vitamins and supplements are 100% natural. If I have an inconvenience in my head, I’ll reach for the peppermint or frankincense essential oil to apply to my forehead. If I’m having tummy trouble, I reach for DigestZen to soothe my body.
- Exercise and absorb vitamin D. Stretching and walking are the best exercises. In the hot summers of Texas, it’s hard to get outside, period. In the morning, stretching in the sun before 10am is normally a healthy UV for my body. I’m the evening, around 7:30pm, the weather starts to “cool” and it’s perfect to get outside for a walk.
These are 5 simple things anyone can do to keep their immune system strong. Consistency is key.
